Bhubaneswar: In view of the safety of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and VVIPs visiting the state, security has been increased on major roads in the capital.

The temporary barricade on roadsides in the high security zones will be replaced with permanent iron fences. The barricades will be erected on the routes connecting Naveen Niwas at Airport Square to Acharya Vihar, Raj Bhavan to Jaydev Vihar Square and at AG Square. Preliminary works for this has already begun. VVIPs like the President and Prime Minister are scheduled to visit areas in the high security zones on various occasions.

Police Commissioner YB Khurania said huge amount money is spent due to frequent construction and breakdown of temporary bamboo boundary wall. Besides, more number of police forces is deployed at these places during visit of VVIPs. In view of this, it would be proper to erect permanent barricades, he added.
