IPL betting racket busted in Ganjam, 8 held

Berhampur: As many as eight persons, including one bookie, were arrested in Ganjam district on Thursday on charges of betting during the ongoing IPL cricket matches.

As per reports, acting on a tip-off, Bada Bazar police conducted a raid last night at the house of the bookie Srikant Kumar Sahoo in Patra Sahi of Berhampur town.

The police seized Rs 8,33,480 with 19 mobile phones and one calculator and a notebook from the betting den, said Santanu Dash, sub-divisional police officer, Berhampur.

The arrested eight accused have been forwarded to court, added Dash.
