Jharsuguda: The Jharsuguda police have busted an IPL betting racket and arrested seven persons in this connection. The cops also seized Rs 7 lakh cash from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off, the Jharsuguda police conducted a raid on the house of main accused Prateek Jadav of Chaukipada in the town and seized cash and mobile phones used for betting.

Jharsuguda SDPO Purusotam Sethi said, “On May 13 night, we were informed that some youths are involved in betting for the IPL Match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians. Later, a police team along with some eyewitnesses raided the house of the main accused Prateek Jadav and recovered cash and mobile phones used for betting.”

During interrogation, Pratik confessed that four more youths are also involved in the betting, following which the cops arrested them also.
