Bhubaneswar: With the northerly wind blowing across the Himalayan region across the eastern and Central India, most parts of Odisha have come under intense cold wave conditions as mercury dropped to below 10 degrees Celsius in nine places.

According to a Met release this evening, Phulbani recorded 4.8 degrees, the lowest temperature in the state this year. Apart from Phulbani town and Daringibadi in Kandhamal, cold wave conditions continued to sweep elsewhere in the district disrupting normal life in G Udayagiri, Balliguda, Kotagarh and Tumudibandha blocks.

Temperature also slumped to below 10 degrees in Daringbadi (7.2), Koraput (9), Bhawanipatna (7), Hirakud (7.5), Sundargarh (8), Sambalpur (7.5), Jharsuguda (8.3) and Angul (7.6).

Apart from this, temperature remained under 15 degrees Celsius in Balasore (12.8), Chandbali (14.1), Paradip (14.6), Baripada (11.5), Keonjhar (10.1), Talcher (10.3), Bolangir (10.7), Titlagarh (10.5), Malkangiri (12.4) and Sonepur (10.8).

Besides, the twin city of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar recorded 12.5 and 12.3 degrees Celsius respectively.

As per the release, the intense cold wave condition will continue till next week up to December 29.
