Bhubaneswar/Kandhamal: With the cold wave beginning to set in most parts of Odisha, normal life has disrupted in Kandhamal district where the temperature dipped to 7.6 degree Celsius today.

With sudden dip in temperature, people are seen basking with fire by burning firewood at different places in Phulbani town.

Besides, temperature also went down to 8.5 degree in G Udayagiri.

“There has been intense cold here. It is very difficult for the people to come out of the house from 6 PM to 10 AM due to intense cold wave,” said Prafulla Rout a native of G Udayagiri town.

Talking to OTV over phone, Director, Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, Dr Sarat Chandra Sahu said at present there is a uniform pattern of temperature in most parts of the Odisha though the day-to-day variation is within 1 degree Celsius.

#As compared to yesterday, temperature in most places in Odisha has gone up by 0.5 degree to 1 degree Celsius today. As per model indicator, though there is a possibility that the temperature might go down by 1 degree Celsius in next 48 hours, there will be no drastic change in weather condition till next week as there is no possibility of rain during the period,” Sahu added.

He also said as compared to coastal belts, temperature would go down to 10 degree or below in some parts of interior Odisha like, Kandhamal, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Balangir, Koraput, Sonepur, Dhenkanal, Angul and Keonjhar districts.
