Sambalpur: The parents of the newborn boy stolen from Sambalpur Sadar hospital are still hopeful of getting their son back. Determined not to budge from the hospital till they get him back, they are now losing hope after hospital authorities and police have not been able to help even after 15 days.

Talking to mediapersons, Sambalpur Additional SP Diptiranjan Ray, said, "We have searched in hospitals of other districts to find out if the child has received treatment anywhere. The missing squad of Crime Branch has also been informed, but all exercises have proved futile."

The infant's mother Gitanjali, is still found sitting on bed number 23 of the hospital, with tearful eyes, waiting for her son to return.

"It has been 15 days but no one is bringing back my child," alleged Gitanjali. Her husband Anirudh Majhi said, "So many days have passed, I don't know if the police will get us our child back but we will not leave the hospital till we get our child."

On March 23, the newborn son of Gitanjali Majhi of Amlapali village under Jujumara block in Sambalpur district was stolen from the Obstetrics and Gynaecology ward of Sambalpur Sadar hospital. The CCTV camera of the hospital had also captured footage of a woman covered with a bedsheet who was suspected to have stolen the child. But the footage has not helped locate the woman so far.

Sambalpur CDMO, Kodandadhar Rao, talking to OTV said, "The parents of the infant are not leaving the hospital though we are taking measures to discharge her  from the hospital."

Ray further added, "We have taken the help of the CCTV footage and various scientific methods are being used to search the child. We have found no clue till date but are hopeful to achieve success soon."
