Infant girl found abandoned in Beguniapada

Berhampur: Notwithstanding the efforts aimed at generating awareness on saving the girl child, an infant girl was found abandoned near a pond embankment in Gurujhari village under Beguniapada block of Ganjam today.

According to sources, locals spotted the abandoned infant and informed the district Childline officials about the matter.

Later, the infant was admitted to the nearby primary health centre following which she was shifted to the MKCG hospital.

Hospital sources said the condition of the infant is stable.

Earlier in March, a newborn girl was found buried in a field at Shyamsundarpur of Jajpur district generating huge hue and cry across the country.
