Sambalpur: Tension ran high on the premises of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla after parents of an infant alleged that their baby girl had been swapped with another child on Saturday.

According to sources, the parents of the baby girl, who are residents of Natakideula area in Samabalpur, brought their baby to Burla hospital from Rairakhol hospital for better treatment at around 11 am yesterday. But, the girl died at 9 pm while undergoing treatment at the government-run hospital.

Following the death of the girl, the parents claimed the baby undergoing treatment at bed number-17 of the SNCU is their daughter and demanded a DNA test.

However, the parents of the girl undergoing treatment at bed number-17 argued that the baby is their daughter.

On being informed about the incident, Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Burla rushed to the medical and started investigation into the matter.

Till the last report came in, Police has said it will conduct the DNA test pf the dead infant girl.
