Bhubaneswar: Have you ever been a victim of teleshopping fraud? It was nothing less than a shock for Bhubaneswar resident Bikrant Kumar who received small idols of deities instead of a phone he had ordered through teleshopping.

According to reports, some days back Bikrant had received a call from an unknown number and was offered a heavy discount on a Samsung Smartphone following the enforcement of GST. The fraudsters offered him the Smartphone at a price of Rs 3000, which was Rs 6000 less than the actual price.

Charmed by the offer, Bikrant ordered it immediately and was excited to receive the parcel, but was shocked to find idols of deities, 'Kathau' (traditional footwear) and a 'Dhanlaxmi Yantra' inside the parcel box shipped by one Subh Labh Teleshopping.

"I had ordered a Samsung phone of Rs 9000 at an offer price of Rs 3000. Initially I could not believe this, but after clarifying about the offer I ordered the smartphone. The product was delivered at the Dumduma post office and I opened the parcel box in front of the office staff just to find worthless religious items inside. The fraudsters are not clever, but I have become a fool (Woh chalaak nahi hain, main bewakoof bangaya)," expressed Bikrant while speaking to media persons.
