Nuapada: The Sunabeda Wildlife Sanctuary in Nuapada district on Friday organised a one-day nature camp providing an opportunity to students to spend a day amidst nature and witness its beauty, far away from hustle bustle of city life.

A group of 50 students from 10 different schools spent the day with nature. The officials of the wildlife division and teachers accompanied them and helped them know the importance of flora and fauna and their conservation.

"We had a unique stay in the lap of nature. The stay helped us know the difference between life in city and life in forest," said a student Sanjukta Kumari.

“It was an amazing experience for us. We got to know various kinds of medicinal plants- their benefits and scientific names. Our teachers shared a lot of things related to nature. We witnessed all those things here that we had read in our books," said another student Ayush Joshi.

The motive of the camp was to involve the students with nature, said the district forest officer of Sunabeda Wildlife Sanctuary Gadadhar Patra. Nature offers the most reliable boost to mental and physical well-being. Students can learn much from such nature-centered programme. Nature is a great teacher as it leaves the students to their own imagination and explorations, he further explained.

“Through the one-day programme we wanted the students to know how they are related to nature and the importance of plants and animals in their life,” said Patra.
