IMD issues thunderstorm, lightning warning for six districts

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar has issued thunderstorm and lightning warning for six districts of Odisha till 9:30 pm today.

The warning was issued after satellite images of Doppler Weather Radar indicated thunderstorm with lightning and heavy rainfall at one or two places over Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati and Nabarangpur districts.

The alert has been sounded for the districts between 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM. People in these areas have been advised to take shelter in nearby buildings and other safe locations.

District Collectors of respective districts, the Special Relief Commissioner, Managing Director of Odisha State Disaster Management Authority and all Revenue Divisional Commissioners have also been alerted by the IMD.
