Sambalpur: Addressing the first convocation of the Indian Institute of Management, Sambalpur, here on Thursday, chief secretary of Odisha AP Padhi said the premier institution will become a renowned one in next 7-8 years.

Padhi also said the recruitment process of full-time faculty for the institution would be over soon.

Gracing the occasion, chairperson of State Bank of India, Arundhati Bhattacharya said, "The institution is now having a director following which we will try to recruit permanent faculty in the next one year." Bhattacharya is the chairperson of Board of Governor, IIM Sambalpur.

Speaking to mediamen on the esteemed institution's infrastructure issue, IIM Sambalpur director Mahadev Jayaswal said, "We will have a permanent campus within two-and-a-half years time. Meanwhile, we are planning to upgrade the existing campus."

During the occasion, Mohamed Kashyap of the first batch was awarded gold medal while 45 others got degree certificates.

"The facilities were not very much in place in the beginning but the way it has been managed by the administration, especially the top management and IIM Indore, we are happy that it is growing in a big way," said Kashyap.
