Bhubaneswar: Taking a sarcastic jibe on BJD leaders for attacking Union Minister Jual Oram with eggs, Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries Babul Supriyo today said he is not afraid to face any such attack during his visit to Odisha.

Soon after arriving at the capital city, the singer-turned-politician sarcastically said, “I never fear anything. So I will not fear if eggs are hurled at my vehicle. If anyone throws eggs at me, I will make omelette out of it since I am purely non-vegetarian.”

He further stated the political situation in Odisha is worse than that of West Bengal. The BJD and Congress are creating hindrances for the welfare schemes of the Centre to reach out to the beneficiaries. Funds allocated under the Centrally-sponsored schemes are siphoned off, he added.

Later in the day, four Youth Congress activists were detained while attempting to show black flags to Babul near Nehru Stadium in Bhadrak. He was on his way to attend a programme in the district.

After reaching Bhadrak, Babul visited a Dalit slum in Jalamandua Panchayat under Bhandaripokhari block and had lunch at a house there. Following it he held a discussion with intellectuals at Bhadrak town and attended a public meet organised by BJP at Dhamnagar.

It may be mentioned here that Babul Supriyo is on a two-day visit to Odisha to attend the BJP's Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas programme.
