Cuttack: Ahead of the mega air show on December 23, the Sarang helicopter team of Indian Air Force (IAF) carried out rehearsals in Cuttack today.

Along with Sarang, IAF’s Surya Kiran aerobatic and Akash Ganga teams will also present daredevil stunts during the show.

“There will be three teams. The Surya Kiran team of fighter aircrafts, the Sarang helicopter team and the Akash Ganga team which will perform a human chain in air. The program will be of around one hour and viewers will be able to see quite a lot,” said IAF official, AK Dwivedy.

The air show is scheduled to begin at 10:45 AM. The Governor and the Chief minister will grace the occasion. Special enclosures have been set up at two places in Kathajodi park and special arrangements have been made for VIPs and invitees.

“Keeping in mind the air show, we have undertaken anti-bird activities and drive to prevent garbage dumping. We have also issued directions to shut meat shops around the venue from December 20-23. We have made all arrangements for ambulance and fire services,” said Sports and Youth Affairs secretary, Vishal Dev.

As many as 100 pilots, 10 IAF officials of Surya Kiran Aerobatics, Saranga Aerobatics and Akash Ganga Aerobatics teams of IAF will participate in the daredevil show with 6 helicopters, 10 fighter aircraft.

Notably, the air show is being organized for the third time since 2010.

The air show this year will be held to mark the Biju centenary celebration.
