Husband makes futile attempt to bring dead wife back to life

Rayagada: The tribal-dominated Rayagada district continues to hog the limelight when it comes to sorcery-related issues. In a fresh incident, a man made futile attempts and performed witchcraft (sorcery) for almost 22 hours to bring his dead wife back to life at Sibapadar panchayat under Muniguda block in the district.

The deceased wife has been identified as Samiti Sabhya of the Sibapadar panchayat, Kuni Nundruka.

As per sources, Kuni's health condition was not good since past few days and her husband Dasaratha Nundruka, instead of taking her to a hospital, kept on performing sorcery to cure her.

Kuni reportedly breathed her last at around 10 am yesterday. However, Dasaratha continued with the rituals thinking that he could infuse life into her again.

Though the body was detained for over 22 hours, Kuni’s husband failed in his attempts.

Kuni’s last rites were finally carried out this morning after her husband lost all hope and could not give life to her.
