Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly, which has failed to transact any important business due to repeated adjournments for the last ten days, witnessed similar scenes today when the striking SC,ST MLAs created a pandemonium forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House till 3 pm.

Soon after the House assembled for the day, the agitating legislators belonging to BJP and Congress, who have been demanding implementation of ORV Act, rushed to the well of the House and shouted slogans pressing their demands. Unable to run the question hour, Speaker Niranjan Pujari adjourned it till afternoon.

The agitating SC/ST MLAs had on Friday prostrated before chief minister Naveen Patnaik in the Assembly in a novel, innovative protest to put their demand before the leader of the House. The chief minister had paid little heed to their demand and left the House inviting sharp criticism from the agitating lawmakers.

On May 12, the legislators were evicted forcefully by the Assembly security personnel while they were sitting on dharna in front of the CM’s chamber.
