Cuttack/Bhubaneswar: After around one and half month of occurrence of the SUM Hospital fire mishap which took 31 lives, the State government has decided to form an expert group to examine the buildings of hospitals including the privately-run ones and safety measures taken by hospital authorities to prepare a technical guideline.

Informing newsmen about the State government’s decision, Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) Central AB Ota today said the first meeting of the expert group comprising DMET chief, Chief Fire Officer, fire expert, Works department chief engineer, electrical engineer and private hospital association members was held in Cuttack. Ota was also present during the expert group meeting.

Notably, the State government had asked the Central RDC to probe into the SUM hospital fire mishap that had occurred on October 17.
