Home Dept orders probe into casting couch charges against Odia film producer

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Home Department has today directed the Commissionerate Police to probe the allegations of casting couch brought in by a Bengali girl against an Odia film producer.

The girl alleged that the producer, Birat Mohapatra, brought her to Odisha promising that he would cast her as the lead in Odia films. However, the producer allegedly inflicted physical and mental torture on her after she came to the state.

The Home department has ordered the Commissionerate Police to probe the allegations and submit report soon.

While the matter had already died down, it came to light again when the girl tweeted the issue tagging Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik.

Earlier, the girl had lodged an FIR against Mohapatra with the Mahila police station here in the Capital city.
