Bhubaneswar/Puri/Cuttack/Narasinghpur: 'Dola Purnima' was celebrated across the State with religious fervour and gaiety.

Devotees indulged in throwing ‘phagu’ (colour powder) and chanting devotional rhymes during the Melana at Olakana in Mahanga of Cuttack district.

Around 200 ‘bimanas’ from Cuttack, Kendrapara and Jajpur joined the traditional Olakana ‘melana’.

In Puri, the Dola Gobinda and Bhu Devi as representatives of the Holy Trinity of the Srimandir orbited the sanctum sactorum of the temple. Devotees threw ‘phagu’ at the deities and celebrated the Dola Purnima amid religious zeal.

Besides, thousands of devotees visited the Srimandir to get glimpse of the Lord Jagannath adorned with gold ornaments during the sacred day.

In Narasinghpur, the Astasambhu melana yatra was celebrated where 28 Shiva and seven Vishnu idols congregated and pujas were conducted as per the traditions.
