New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: With an aim to provide wayside amenities to commuters, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday announced setting up of Highway Villages and Highway Nests across the country including one in Chandikhol of Odisha.

The Union minister said each unit will be built 40 to 50 km apart along the highways.

While unveiling logos of Highway Nest and Highway Village, the Union Minister stated the units will have food court, drinking water facility, toilets, shops and a fuel pump.

The smaller ones will be called Highway Nest while the larger ones will be called Highway Village.
