Helper killed, 5 passengers injured in bus mishap in Balasore

Balasore: The helper of a bus was killed and five passengers were injured when the bus they were traveling in from Bhubaneswar to Baripada, met with an accident on National Highway 16 near Chitapada village under Khantapada police limits in Balasore district late last night.

According to sources, Nilamadhab, the bus, was on its way to Baripada when it hit a truck from the rear while trying to overtake it. As a result, the bus helper died on the spot and five passengers were injured. The injured were admitted to Balasore hospital.

While Khantapada police has initiated an on the spot investigation, the concerned truck has been detained by police at Seragarh Toll Gate.

The bus driver had fled the spot after the accident and the bus moved a long way without anyone on the driving seat before coming to a halt, said some passengers.
