Bhubaneswar: The State’s coastal and southern parts will experience heavy rainfall till July 18 under the influence of a low pressure over north-west Bay of Bengal, predicted the Regional Meteorological Centre here on Sunday.

The low pressure over the Bay of Bengal will intensify further in next 24 hours, the weather office added.

The heavy rainfall is likely to occur in Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nuapada, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur districts.

The weather office issued warning for fishermen asking them not to venture into sea.

Besides, the office forecast very heavy rainfall in north and interior Odisha on July 19 and 20.
At the same time, the Special Relief Commissioner directed the district collectors to be on high alert in view of possible floods following heavy rainfall.
