Bhubaneswar: The Met office has predicted heavy rainfall in north Odisha during the next 24 hours under the influence of a low pressure.

“A low pressure area, which was formed over Jharkhand and adjoining areas of Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal yesterday lay over south Bihar and neighbourhood at about 8.30 AM today with the associated upper air cyclonic circulation extending up to mid-tropospheric level. Under its influence, rain or thundershower is likely to occur at many places over Odisha with heavy rainfall at one or two places over north Odisha during next 24 hours,” a Met release said here this afternoon.

The release also said the fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea as the condition would be very rough as the surface wind from south-westerly direction with speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting up to 65 kmph is likely to prevail along and off the coast during the period.
