Bhubaneswar: After being lashed by heavy rain for several days last month leading to flooding in some regions, Odisha is likely to get more rainfall in the next 48 hours.

Meteorological department today said thunderstorm with lightning is likely to hit many places over the State during the next 24 hours. The sky is likely to remain cloudy with likelihood of rain and thundershower in Bhubaneswar and neighborhood.

Surface wind with a speed of 35 to 45 kmph is expected along and off Odisha coast, it said. Keeping in view the rough sea weather, fishermen have been warned to be cautious while venturing out into the sea.

Most parts of the state experienced a comparatively dry day today although sultry condition prevailed in Bhubaneswar and nearby areas amidst high humidity. While no rainfall was recorded in Bhubaneswar and nearby places, including Cuttack, during the day, Malkangiri registered 22 mm rainfall, the highest in the state for the day, the MeT office said.
