Bhubaneswar: The local Met office today predicted widespread rainfall in coastal Odisha under the influence of a low pressure formed over the Bay of Bengal.

As per a Met release, under the influence of the upper air cyclonic circulation, a low pressure area has formed over west central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal and north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coast this morning while the associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends up to mid-tropospheric levels.

Besides, a trough line formed over Rajasthan has stretched up to east-central Bay of Bengal through Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh.

Under its influence, rain or thundershower is likely to occur at most places over south Odisha and many places over north Odisha with heavy rainfall at one or two places over south Odisha during the next 24 hours.

Fishermen are advised to be cautious while venturing into sea.

The Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar has informed that the deficit monsoon rainfall in Odisha in June, which was 24 percent below the normal, would be compensated in the month July as more rains are indicated during this month due to favourable conditions.
