Heartbreaking! Toddler found crying alone near dead mother in forest

Jeypore: It was heartrending for the residents of Kumbharput under Borigumma police station in Koraput district to witness the sight of an infant crying alone near the deadbody of the mother. The toddler was found a little away from the body of her mother in a forest.

After hearing the wails of the child, residents rushed to the nearest Nilagiri forests and traced the baby, aged around 10-months-old lying just one or two metres away from her dead mother. They immediately informed Borigumma police which rushed to the spot with a team-led by IIC Nirmal Mohanty.

"Dog squad and scientific team will reach the spot soon. The body will be sent for post mortem. The matter is suspected to be a case of murder. We suspect the woman is a resident of neighbouring Chhattisgarh," Mohanty said.

The baby was shifted to Borigumma health centre and administered primary treatment. She will be shifted to the Childline soon, he added.
