Cuttack: Livid over non-compliance to its directives to return property related documents to a loanee, the Orissa High Court has issued an ultimatum to a private bank and asked it to reply in connection with the case within seven days.

As per sources, Swatirekha, a resident of Cuttack, had taken loan from the ICICI bank, Bajrakabati branch in 2013. She moved the High Court when she did not get back her no-objection certificate and other mortgaged property related documents even after repaying all her debts.

“Initially I deposited Rs 1.24 crore in just seven days to get out of custody and even after refunding total Rs 1.7 crore, the bank is yet to return all my papers,” Swatirekha told OTV.

In March, the court had ruled in favour of Swatirekha and directed the bank to return all the mortgaged documents. However, the bank is yet to follow the order after several notices.

“The High Court has expressed its displeasure as the bank has not returned the documents of the complainant. The bank had conspired to grab Swatirekha’s properties worth nearly Rs 6 crore through fraudulent means by lending loans to her,” Swatirekha’s counsel Suresh Kumar Panda said.
