Balasore: Intensifying their demand for setting up of a permanent Orissa High Court (HC) bench in North Odisha, members of Balasore Bar Association resorted to a cease-work agitation disrupting functioning of court works here on Saturday. The Bar Association has decided to continue their agitation till Monday.

The association is also demanding for filling up of the vacant post of Judicial First Class Magistrate. The lawyers have threatened to intensify their agitation in coming days if their demands are not fulfilled at the earliest.

“This is a token strike and we will decide our next course of action, if the demands are not met at the earliest,” said Association secretary Sambit Kumar Nandi.

On the other hand, several bar associations of all Western Odisha districts had also staged a week-long agitation last month demanding establishment of High Court bench.
