Harassment row: Rs 50L defamation suit filed against Haraprasad Das

Bhubaneswar: Adding more trouble for noted litterateur Haraprasad Das, teacher and writer Pallishree Patnaik has lodged a defamation case against the former for allegedly harassing her on social media.

Patnaik filed the defamation suit at the Bhawanipatna SDJM court on Wednesday seeking Rs 50 lakh in damages. Her statement under Section 161 and 164 of the CrPC has also been recorded basing on her complaint, sources said.

Earlier this month, the litterateur had lodged a criminal defamation suit against Patnaik at Bhubaneswar ADJM court and a civil defamation case at the court of Civil Judge Senior Division.

“We have lodged a defamation suit of Rs 50 lakh against Das and are confident that we will win the case. Das has suppressed many things that will come to light soon,” said Nihar Ranjan Mishra, Patnaik’s lawyer.

Earlier, she had lodged a complaint against Das with police for alleged indecent behaviour towards her on Facebook.
