Hailstones wreak havoc in Balasore

Balasore: Several asbestos and tile houses and crops were damaged as Nor'wester rains accompanied by hailstone showers lashed many parts of Balasore district today evening.

Large trees, electric and telephone poles were also uprooted in the storm, throwing normal life out of gear.

In Remuna, Soro, Nilagiri and Bahanaga blocks, communication and power supply were snapped following Nor'wester rains.

Meanwhile, two women of Begunia panchayat in Nilagiri were reportedly injured in the hailstorm.

The Regional Meteorological Department in Bhubaneswar had predicted Nor’wester rain in several parts of coastal, north and south Odisha in the next 48 hours.
