Hack attempt on BP Das Commission website: Russia, Ukraine hand suspected

Bhubaneswar: A hacker from Russia or Ukraine is behind the hack attempt on the website of Justice BP Das Commission on Sri Mandir reforms, informed Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC) today.

The website - www.sjatic.odisha.gov.in – through which the Commission received public feedback on the necessary reforms for the Jagannath Temple, was closed for public after an alleged hack attempt on Saturday.

Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC), while tracking the IP address found out it was leading to a hacker from Russia or Ukraine, who had attempted to hack the website through a proxy server.

It is worthwhile to mention that the website is hosted on OCAC server. As the Commission comes under Law department, OCAC will inform the department about the hacking attempt before restoring the website.

Meanwhile, the Cyber Cell of Odisha Crime Branch has initiated a probe into the incident. Whether any official data has been compromised on the website is still uncertain.
