Phulbani: The process of deposition of witnesses and recording their statements in Gumudumaha firing incident began at the Phulbani District Court premises today. The witnesses presented their statements before the Justice Janab Mohammed Ajmal Commission of Inquiry.

On the first day, investigating officer and Phulbani SDPO Prabhat Chandra Panigrahi and SOG Sergeant Nilakantha Kanhar, presented their version before Justice Ajmal, heading the committee to probe into the Gumudumaha firing.

Notably, five innocent tribals were killed and seven others injured in a firing undertaken by security personnel suspecting the victims to be naxals.

A total of 16 affidavits have been filed before the Commission so far.
