Cuttack: Tension continued to prevail at the Ravenshaw University campus as two student groups again clashed with each other on Monday evening.
Sven students from both the groups were injured in the clash and admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital here. In view of the tense situation, a platoon of police force has been deployed on the campus. The situation is under control now.
Notably, a group clash was erupted between some inmates of the Lalitgiri and New Hostels over a trivial issue three days back. The situation was later brought under control after intervention of the police. However, on Monday night, the two groups again confronted with each other. Some inmates of the Lalitgiri hostel allegedly attacked their counterparts at the New Hostel.
Meanwhile, boarders of New Hostel gheraoed the office of the university Vice-Chancellor demanding a probe into the incident and strong action against the persons to be found guilty.
In his reaction, university Vice-Chancellor Prof Prakash Chandra Sarangi said some students are responsible for the entry of outsiders into the campus. On the basis of the complaint filed by the students, police are investigating into the incident and would take appropriate action accordingly, he added.
