Cuttack: The Grade IV staff of SCB Medical College and Hospital here working under a consultancy staged a dharna in front of the office of Superintendent demanding permanent employment and increase of salary.

As per sources, as many as 1500 attendants working under a consultancy named Manju Service have been demanding an increase in salary.

The workers have alleged that despite having worked for more than six years, they are getting a paltry Rs 3795 as monthly salary, which barely meets the basic requirements of life. Although they have been assured by the authorities of a permanent job, nothing has come off as yet, they further alleged.

"We demand permanent employment and increase in salary. At present we are getting a monthly salary of Rs 3795. This amount is not even sufficient to pay house rent. We will continue our demonstration until ADM, Superintendent, or anyone of them comes and gives assurance to fulfil our demands," said a protestor.
