Bhubaneswar: While the Odisha government had decided to sell Urea at the revised price of Rs 295 per bag after implementation of GST, few cooperative societies are allegedly selling it at higher prices.

Reacting on the allegation Cooperative Minister Surya Narayan Patro said that selling urea at higher rates will invite stringent action from the government.

Talking to OTV, Patro said, “Providing Urea to farmers is the duty of Markfed. It supplies Urea to cooperative societies and they sell it to the farmers. The price of Urea bought prior to July 31 was Rs 298 per bag but after the implementation of GST it was revised to Rs 295 per bag. The department decided to compensate the loss of Rs 3 per bag and all the cooperative societies were instructed to sell it at the new price.”
