Bhubaneswar: Odisha government on Saturday ordered vigilance probe into the Rs 4 crore large area multi-purpose cooperative societies (LAMPS) scam in Koraput district.

For the procurement of paddy, there are 48 LAMPS in Koraput. In a recent audit report, irregularities of Rs 4 crore between 2012 and 2015 came to fore.

"In a special audit report, the government found irregularities of over Rs 4 crore by making bogus bills related to paddy procurement and transportation in 38 LAMPS of Koraput.

Taking cognisance of the matter, we have directed the Vigilance department to probe into the embezzlement,” said Cooperation Minister Surya Narayan Patro.

Action will be taken against all the officials involved in making the fake transactions, added Patro.

Earlier, OTV had unearthed a scam in which officials of cooperative banks in four districts of the State, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Rayagada and Koraput, under Koraput Central Cooperative Bank in collusion with middlemen were found to have amassed lakhs by carrying out fake transactions.
