Bhubaneswar: A day after gold bars and rings weighing over 350 grams were seized from two passengers at the Bhubaneswar Airport, the Commissionerate of Customs (Preventive) today seized gold biscuits weighing 1.2 kg from two passengers from Dubai.

The value of the seized gold bars is estimated to be around Rs 35 lakhs. 

Sources said the gold bars were recovered from the rectum of the two passengers, who arrived at the airport via Kuala Lumpur. The officials seized the gold biscuits and have detained the two for interrogation.

The Customs officials suspect that several others are involved in the gold smuggling and search is on to nab them, sources added.  

Yesterday, the customs officials seized 378.370 grams of gold bars and rings worth Rs 12 lakh from two passengers. The two passengers had arrived in Bhubaneswar in an AirAsia flight from Bangkok. The flight had arrived at Bhubaneswar airport via Kuala Lumpur.
