Godman detained for raping minor relative

Cuttack: A self-styled godman was detained on Thursday for allegedly raping a minor girl in Baulanga village under Tigiria police limits.

The self-proclaimed godman Ramesh Nayak was staying in the village as a house husband while his in-laws have accused him for sexually assaulting niece last night.

According to reports, the victim, a 9-year-old minor was sleeping at her house when Nayak allegedly took advantage and threatened her not to disclose it to family.

However, the matter came to light after the minor’s grandmother found blood stains on her clothes. Upon asking, the victim then narrated the ordeal to her grandmother.

Later, the family lodged a complaint basing on which the fake godman was detained for questioning. The minor’s medical examination was conducted today.
