Kalahandi: The sacred teacher-student relationship has been scarred yet again  in Odisha with one more case of alleged harassment by a teacher coming to the fore. A girl student of Madanpur Rampur Panchayat College here on Saturday brought harassment charges against a Geography lecturer of the college.

Meanwhile, the girl has lodged a complaint with the M Rampur Police Station in the district accusing the lecturer Raghunath Mohapatra of indulging in objectionable talks with her over phone. The student has also accused Mohapatra of misbehaving with her in college.

However, Mohapatra levelled the allegations as false and baseless. "I once caught the girl red-handed with a boy inside a classroom in the college and the charges brought by her are an attempt to take revenge," he said.

The principal-in-charge of the college Haraprasad Tulo however said that he has no information related to the incident. "Neither the student nor the lecturer has approached me with any complaint. I will take necessary action after getting any such complaint," said Tulo.

A probe into the allegations has already begun, informed M Rampur PS IIC, Jitendra Nath.
