Berhampur: A girl student studying at a private school in Berhampur has accused two lady teachers of mentally harassing her and intentionally deducting her marks in the examination.
It is alleged that the girl is being targeted on false charges of stealing money.
“They don’t involve me in class projects in the school and make me stand inside the classroom as punishment for no reason,” said the girl.
The matter came to light after the girl and her parents went to the sub-collector and narrated the entire incident.
“My child is under extreme stress for past 6 months which is why she has not been able to perform well in her exams. They (teachers) have deducted her marks. Now she is detained because of poor marks. It is a difficult situation for us as every year almost Rs 1 lakh is being spent on her education,” said victim’s mother.
Apart from demanding action against the accused teachers, the girl's family have also urged the sub-collector to promote the victim from Class 8th to Class 9th.
Meanwhile, the sub-collector has said that action will be taken after a proper investigation into the matter.
“During the investigation it will become clear whether the charges levelled against the teachers are true or not. Accordingly action will be taken,” said sub-collector of Berhampur, Siddharth Swain.
