Bhubaneswar: IndiGo has cancelled as many as eight scheduled departures & arrivals at Bhubaneswar Airport on March 15 and 16 after the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) decided to ground the budget carrier’s A320Neo planes over faulty engines.

IndiGo flight number 211 which was slated to depart New Delhi at 15.45 hrs and arrive at Bhubaneswar at 17.50 hrs has been cancelled for March 15 and 16.

Flight number 314 leaving Bhubaneswar at 18.30 hrs to Delhi has been cancelled for both March 15 and 16.

Similarly, flight number 752 leaving Hyderabad at 13.10 PM with scheduled arrival at 14:45 hrs at Bhubaneswar along with flight number 969 with scheduled departure from Bhubaneswar at 15.15 hrs to Hyderabad has been cancelled.

Bhubaneswar-Bengaluru Flight number 157 & Bengaluru -Bhubaneswar flight number 165 will stay grounded on March 15 and 16.

This apart, IndiGo flight number 182 schedule to depart from Bhubaneswar at 12:15 hrs to Chennai International Airport and flight number 193 arriving from Chennai at Bhubaneswar at 22:40 hrs are cancelled for March 15 and 16.

Besides Bhubaneswar, the carrier has also grounded its flights at other major airports in the country including Mumbai, Kolkata, Patna, Amritsar, Srinagar and Guwahati.

It is to be noted that the director of the DGCA, in its March 12 order, said that A320Neos planes of IndiGo fitted Pratt & Whitney PW1100 engines have been found to be faulty and directed them to be grounded with immediate effect.

The DGCA’s decision comes in the wake of a few cases of mid-air engine failure of IndiGo planes since February.

Earlier on Monday, a Lucknow-bound IndiGo flight returned to Ahmadabad within 40 minutes of take-off due to engine failure.
