George Tirkey’s son facing rape charges surrenders

Rourkela: Biramitrapur MLA George Tirkey’s son, Rajesh who was absconding after a girl had levelled charges of rape against him on the pretext of marriage, today surrendered before the SDJM court in the city.

Rakesh had earlier approached the Orissa High Court for bail. However, the court directed him to surrender in a lower court following which he surrendered before the SDJM court and appealed for bail.

However, the SDJM court rejected the bail plea. He has again  approached the Additional District Judge Court, Rourkela, for bail.

The rape charges against the legislator's son came to the fore after the girl lodged a complaint with the Rourkela Mahila Police in September this year following which a case was registered against him under sections 376 and 294 of IPC.
