Ganja racket busted in Malkangiri; 3 detained

Malkangiri: Continuing its crackdown on Ganja smuggling, police arrested three persons and seized 14 quintals of cannabis at several places near Chitrakonda in the district today.

Acting on a tip-off, the Balimela police conducted simultaneous raids at several places near Chitrakonda and detained three vehicles, including a car, a tipper and a mini truck with the contraband items.

The ganja peddlers attempted to give the cops a slip by smuggling the cannabis in a luxury car with a blue beacon light atop it but Balimela police seized all the three vehicles during the raids.

Sources said the items were being smuggled to Chhattisgarh from Chitrakonda area.
