Gang rape in Keonjhar: woman files police complaint

Bhubaneswar: A 27-year-old woman has been allegedly gang raped by two youths in Keonjhar.

Though the shocking incident occurred on May 6, the matter came to light after the survivor lodged a police complaint in connection with the incident today.

According to reports,  two youths of Chakundlapal village allegedly abducted the victim when she was returning from a religious programme organised in the village.

Later, the accused took the survivor to an isolated place in the forest and allegedly gang raped her in turns.

“The accused abducted my daughter when she was returning from the programme when the incident occurred. I want those involved in the incident to be punished,” said victim’s mother.

Basing on the complaint filed by the victim, Turumunga police have registered a case. The medical examination of the woman was conducted today while the two accused are absconding.

Special teams have been formed to nab the culprits, police said.
