Bhubaneswar: After a video showing gamblers playing cards on the premises of Rameshwar temple here at Old Town went viral on social media, the Director General of Police has ordered a probe into the matter.

The incident came to the fore after a tourist shared a video showing gamblers playing cards and smoking marijuana on the premises of the temple on Twitter.

In the video, the tourist Deepayan Roy claimed that, "During his recent visit to temples of Bhubaneswar, he came across a strange situation where people were playing satta or juwa during day time inside temple complex which was under observation of Odisha Tourism. This is unacceptable and request concern government department to take action."

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police Satyabrata Bhoi said a probe will be conducted to check the authenticity of the video. "We will take appropriate action to curb illegal activities in temples, if any," he said.
