Bhubaneswar: The much-talked-about death of Asutosh Mohanty alias Rishi, an engineering student, took a new turn this evening after the commissionerate police recorded the statement of three friends.
According to reports, three friends of Rishi came to the office of the city DCP in the evening where the investigating officer (IO) recorded their statement under section 161 of CrPC in presence of the DCP Satyabrata Bhoi.
Talking to media persons, Bhoi said the three friends in their statement admitted that the sex video CD has a close link to the death of Rishi. They also informed that the sex video CD was prepared by Rishi’s girlfriend and the circumstances under which the CD was prepared.
“The statement of these three friends of Rishi is a sensitive matter. Police have collected vital information from these three friends. We will examine their statement and take up our investigation accordingly,” the DCP added.
Though he refused to divulge details regarding the statement of these three friends, he, however, said protection would be given to them if they want.
Talking to the media persons earlier in the day, Bhoi had said the police have received post mortem and the viscera reports of the deceased and will consult the doctors who have conducted post mortem and the viscera test and seek their opinion about the exact cause of the death.
The DCP further said the police, considering various aspects of the case in course of its investigation, have decided to bring more people under the purview of investigation.
He had also said to get more evidence on this matter police will give adequate protection to those who are willing to provide more information.
