Jeypore: With the whereabouts of the grandson of freedom fighter Laxmi Indira Panda, Babula Panda, who is missing since April 16 still unknown, the family members today staged a protest demanding expeditious search operation.

The family members staged a dharna in front of the residence of Jeypore Sub-Collector demanding immediate measures on part of district administration and police to trace him.

Notably, Babula had accompanied his family members to Raj Bhavan for felicitation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

It may be mentioned that Babula's mother Sujata Panda was also stranded without money after boarding a wrong train to Balasore instead of Jeypore. However, she was rescued by a youth identified as Debapriya Samal, who handed her to the Railway Police Force (RPF) and later the district administration sent her back to Jeypore following intervention by the CM.

The CM has also ordered the DG to trace Babula. Search operation of the Jeypore police is underway, said sources.

Talking to media persons Jeypore Sub-Collector said, "As he had gone missing from Bhubaneswar, a case has been filed there with RPF. It is being monitored specifically from office of the Commissioner and Chief Minister and he will be traced as soon as possible."
