Bhubaneswar: As a part of an ambitious project towards Digital India Initiative by the Indian Railways, Wi-Fi services will be provided at Cuttack Railway Station during Durga Puja in October this year.

With this, Cuttack Railway Station will become one of the major railway stations in the country to have high speed internet facility for its thousands of passengers who travel everyday by trains.

During his visit to the Cuttack Railway Station today, ECoR General Manager Umesh Singh announced that Wi-Fi service will be enabled at Cuttack Station any time during Durga Puja festival in October.

Provision of Wi-Fi from October will be a humble Service by East Coast Railway before Durga Puja Festival, he added.

Designed to offer users the best Internet experience, RailWire Wi-Fi will be available to any user who has a working mobile connection o­n a smart phone or o­n any laptop device. This is a part of the continuous endeavour of the East Coast Railway (ECoR) to provide more and better comforts to its esteemed passengers.

Talking to media persons, Singh informed that construction work for provision of a lift at Platform number-1 and 2 is going on and will be completed very soon. The lift will help the senior and divyang passengers. Besides, escalators will be provided at the station very soon after completion of some ongoing developmental works, he said, adding Cuttack Railway Station will have all facilities according to the norms and status of the station.
