Jajpur: The Panikoili police of Jajpur district today arrested a person from Khariar area of Nuapada district on the charge of cheating people impersonating as Ollywood actor Babusan through a fake Facebook ID.

The police arrested him on the basis of a complaint lodged by a woman of Panikoili. As per the complainant, the accused cheated the woman of Rs 22,000 and over 70 grams gold ornaments on the pretext of giving her daughter a chance to debut in films as a child artiste. The accused had created a fake Facebook account in the name of Babusan to commit the offence.

The cops arrested the accused while he had come to the complainant to ask for more money.

According to reports, funds were being collected in the name of the Odia actor on the pretext of various problems and schemes. However, Babusan had rubbished the allegations and claimed it to be a fake account.

He had clarified that there are nearly 25 to 30 fake accounts by his name on social media. "Collection of money in my name is totally wrong. I am not on social media nor do I have any account. Fake accounts of several actors and actresses have also been opened in various social media platforms," he had stated.
