Soro: Unidentified miscreants looted hundis (donation boxes) and valuables worth lakhs of rupees from as many as four temples at Sabira village under Soro police limits in Balasore district late on Wednesday night.

According to reports, miscreants made their way into the Radha Krushna, Patrasuni, Jagulei and Hanuman temple in the village and decamped with ornaments and cash stashed inside the donation boxes.

“After opening the temple gate this morning, we found the lock of the main door broken. The crown, chita and other ornaments adorning the deities inside the Garbha Gruha are missing,” head priest of Radha Krushna temple said adding that cash inside the donation boxes have also been looted.

The empty donation boxes were found lying in a field near the village.

An FIR has been lodged by the temple authorities following which Soro police has begun investigation into the case.
